Privacy Policy
Effective October 21, 2026
BackerVault is an iPhone app for keeping track of crowdfunding pledges. It is built to know as little about you as possible. In short: there is no BackerVault account, nothing is tracked, nothing is sold, and your pledges live on your iPhone and, if you turn it on, in your own iCloud.
What stays on your iPhone
Everything you put in BackerVault (pledges, amounts, items, delivery dates, notes, your watchlist and your settings) is stored on your iPhone. We never receive it.
iCloud sync
With BackerVault Pro, your vault syncs through your own private iCloud database, operated by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. Only you can read it; we cannot.
Signing in to Kickstarter, Gamefound or BackerKit
If you import pledges, you sign in on that platform's own website, shown inside the app. BackerVault never sees or stores your password. The sign-in stays on your iPhone, the same way it would in a web browser, and the app reads your pledges directly from the platform onto your iPhone; they do not pass through our servers. You can sign out from the import screen at any time. Those platforms' own privacy policies apply to your use of them.
Our lookup service
Some features use our server at api.backervault.app to fetch public information:
- searching BoardGameGeek, and showing a game's details;
- looking up a Gamefound or Indiegogo campaign from its link, including for the watchlist;
- currency exchange rates.
The app sends only what's needed for the lookup: the search words, the campaign link or the currency code. Like any web server, ours sees the network address the request comes from. We use these requests only to answer them, we do not keep them or link them to you, and the public results may be cached briefly so we don't ask BoardGameGeek or Gamefound for the same thing twice.
Notifications
Reminders and alerts are created on your iPhone. We don't send them, and we don't receive anything about them.
Purchases
BackerVault Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple handles the payment; we never see your payment details.
No tracking, no selling
BackerVault contains no analytics or tracking code and no third-party advertising networks, and we do not sell or share personal information with anyone.
Children
BackerVault is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Deleting your data
Deleting a pledge in the app deletes it. Deleting the app removes everything stored on your iPhone; to remove the iCloud copy, go to Settings, then your name, iCloud, Manage Account Storage, BackerVault.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
